Telecommunications Company A large telecom used Netcool as their primary network management solution for a network of over 1,000 devices managing over 1,000,000 interfaces. Netcool pollers were incapable of scaling to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding network. With the introduction of multi-threaded pollers, NerveCenter became capable of monitoring over 350,000 objects per installed instance. NerveCenter was easily able to meet the scaling network management needs of the telecom. NerveCenter has proven to provide better scaling for a lower cost than any other solution on the market.
National Retail Chain A large US retailer used Netcool as their primary network management solution, using Netcool probes to process 6-7 million traps per day. When IBM Tivoli changed their pricing structure from node-based to managed-object-based, the cost of maintaining those probes became exceptionally high. NerveCenter was able to replace the Netcool probes with two instances of NerveCenter, processing the same number of traps for a fraction of the price; the replacement of the probes saved the retailer over $400,000.
Transaction Processing NerveCenter is being used as part of a “best-of-breed” network management solution in a network for a large transaction processing company, in conjunction with IBM’s Netcool and several other platforms. Over time NerveCenter has grown to provide the brains of the architecture, eliminating false-positives and providing actionable network alerts. NerveCenter compliments Netcool by providing deeper analysis and greater scale, reporting critical events to the Netcool console.
